Start Selling On eBay

Unlike most business opportunities eBay is one of the very least expensive to get started. Obviously, you will need an eBay user ID with positive feedback. This is very important! Buyers do not want to send their hard earned money to someone they may be unsure of. Make every effort to keep your feedback 100% positive, it will play an important role in your future. You also want to choose your I.D. very carefully. Make sure that it represents your business and it is something that your customers will remember.

You will also need a credit/debit card on file with eBay. Your address will be verified to ensure that eBay is a safe place to buy/sell. You may also use this as a payment method for your eBay fees.

I strongly recommend having a PayPal account. This is a great way to get your money in an instant. PayPal allows you to accept payment by credit card, electronic checks, or a PayPal balance. You may also apply for a PayPal debit card or you may transfer your money directly into your checking or savings account free of charge. Personally, I will only purchase items on eBay that I am able to pay using PayPal. The buyer and seller are protected because PayPal will never share your financial information. You may sign up for free at http://paypal.com After you sign up make sure that you become a verified member.

You may also want to create your About Me (http://pages.ebay.com/community/aboutme.html) page and My World (http://myworld.ebay.com/) This will give you an opportunity to tell potential buyers about yourself, building credibility. You will also receive an icon next to your user I.D. that potential customers will see when they visit your listings.

You will need access to a computer with internet service. I highly recommend a high speed internet service provider. Using a dial up service will work but it will take you a lot more time.

You will also need a digital camera. I started using a 3.2 mega pixel and it worked great.

Shipping your items will be much easier if you have postal scales. You can purchase one on eBay for a great price.

As your business grows you will also need storage space. We have added a room in our garage specifically used only for eBay items. This is where I store my listed items, items that need to be listed, and my shipping supplies. It is very important to keep all of your items organized. I use clear plastic bins. They stack neatly, hold a lot, and the contents can be seen easily. I keep the clothing stored according to gender and size and each bin is labeled accordingly. This makes it much easier to find items that need to be shipped and will save you a lot of time
